Lab Analysis
As a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Linzi has extensive training in analyzing labs. While labs do provide ample insight into your condition and the potential cause of your condition, naturopathic doctors do not simply address labs, they take a holistic approach and help people on an individualized basis.
A Note From Dr. Linzi
Why I Don’t Base Care Solely on Lab Results
While lab testing can be a valuable tool, it’s only one piece of the picture—and it’s important to remember that results are just a snapshot in time. Your labs may reflect what’s happening in your body today, but they don’t always tell the full story of your long-term patterns, underlying root causes, or how you actually feel in daily life. In my practice, I’ve found that over-reliance on testing can lead to overlooking the most important element: the patient in front of me. That’s why I always start with a thorough health history, symptom review, and discussion of your lifestyle, stress levels, and personal goals. This whole-person approach helps ensure that care is personalized, practical, and focused on your overall well-being—not just your numbers.
While I’m always happy to review any lab work you’ve already had done, I don’t typically begin care by ordering a large panel of tests. If someone is feeling unwell and experiencing many symptoms, I’ve found that starting with the basics—supporting the body, reducing inflammation, improving nutrition, sleep, stress balance, and overall function—often clears up 98% of what’s going on. As I like to say, if the waters are muddy and you cast a wide net, you’ll catch all sorts of things—many of which may not truly be problems, but rather reflections of an inflamed or imbalanced state. By focusing first on creating the right conditions for health, we not only address the root issues more effectively, but if we do choose to run labs later, they’re often a much more accurate reflection of what’s actually left to resolve. This approach helps avoid unnecessary costs, testing fatigue, and chasing results that may shift naturally once the body is back in balance.

Specialty Lab Analysis
Naturopathic doctors may utilize specialty evaluation tools to identify the root cause of health concerns. These specialty lab analyses below may be helpful.
- Salivary hormone panel: measures levels of progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol. Indicated in menopause, infertility, and hormonal imbalances.
- Adrenal stress index: measures cortisol, your main “stress hormone,” and corresponding highs and lows throughout the day. Indicated for patients with chronic fatigue and insomnia.
- Comprehensive Stool Evaluation: a stool test identifying beneficial bacteria, imbalanced bacteria, and dysbiotic bacteria.
- Carroll Food Intolerance Evaluation: a valuable naturopathic tool that identifies foods your body struggles to metabolize. Unlike allergy or sensitivity tests that detect immune responses, this method reveals foods that disrupt digestion and create metabolic stress, addressing the root cause of symptoms. This highly individualized evaluation reflects the uniqueness of each person’s body, guiding personalized dietary changes that restore balance and support long-term health.
- Reveal MyDNA: advanced genetic testing service that provides personalized insights into your health, nutrition, and fitness by analyzing your unique genetic blueprint. This tool offers a powerful way to uncover hidden factors influencing metabolism, inflammation, detox pathways, and nutrient absorption, allowing for truly individualized care that addresses the root causes of imbalance. By understanding your genetic predispositions, we can develop targeted wellness strategies that optimize your health, prevent future issues, and enhance overall vitality. This allows us to work with your body’s natural strengths while addressing areas that may need additional support.
- 24-Hour at-home Urine Collection for Iodine, Bromide, and Fluoride: a comprehensive test that measures your body’s levels & excretion of these essential and potentially harmful halogens. This analysis helps assess iodine sufficiency, which is critical for thyroid, ovary and hormonal health, while also identifying excess bromide and fluoride, which can interfere with iodine absorption and contribute to fatigue, thyroid dysfunction, infertility and other imbalances.
