Meet Dr. Linzi Saigh-Larsen, ND, MSAc, CNS – A Hometown Doctor with a Passion for Wellness

Dr. Linzoi and Upper Peninsula Natural Wellness

Hello, friends! I’m Dr. Linzi Saigh-Larsen, a proud Yooper born and raised right here in Iron River. This community means so much to me. My grandpa, Fred Saigh, had a deep love for this area and spent his life giving back in countless ways. My goal has always been to honor his legacy and continue serving our community through health, healing, and hope.

My Journey Into Naturopathic Medicine

When you look at the “alphabet soup” after my name—BS, ND, MSAc, and CNS—it can feel like a lot. Let me break it down:

  • BS – Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Psychology (Marquette University)
  • ND – Naturopathic Doctor (earned at a four-year, federally accredited naturopathic medical school in Illinois)
  • MSAc – Master of Science in Acupuncture
  • CNS – Certified Nutrition Specialist

All of this training reflects my passion: helping people restore their health naturally.

What Is a Naturopathic Doctor?

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct system of healthcare that emphasizes prevention, whole-patient wellness, and the body’s ability to heal itself. While we study pharmaceuticals and understand when medications and surgery are necessary, our focus is different: we look for the root cause of symptoms and use natural therapies to restore balance.

As a naturopathic doctor, I work with patients in all aspects of health—hormones, digestion, energy, mood, detoxification, and more. I believe that when obstacles are removed and the right support is in place, the body has a remarkable God-given ability to heal.

There are six guiding principles of Naturopathic Medicine (read more here), but at the heart of it is this truth: health is more than just the absence of disease—it’s vitality.

Why I Chose This Path

My decision was personal. My husband faced serious health challenges, and I was told by doctors, “Until he’s sick enough for more medication, there’s nothing else we can do.” That didn’t sit right with me. I knew there had to be a better way. That moment fueled my passion to study naturopathic medicine and commit my life to finding real answers for people who don’t want to settle for “just managing” their symptoms.

I also went through my own health struggles. At one point, I was on six different pharmaceuticals—a pill for every symptom. But instead of getting better, I felt stuck in a cycle that wasn’t addressing the root cause. Through naturopathic medicine, I was able to safely get off all of those medications and heal in a way I never thought possible. That transformation taught me something vital: if I wanted to keep myself and my family healthy, especially as we age, I needed to learn this medicine. The standard medical model wasn’t going to give me the answers I was searching for—so I had to find them myself.

How I Work with Patients

I see patients both locally at my office in Iron River (401 Washington Ave, on top of Stambaugh Hill) and virtually across the U.S. In fact, about one-third of my patients are remote. Local patients also get access to the in-office holistic therapies we offer— check out our services here!

Office Hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

The 4 Pillars of Health

When I work with patients, I focus on four key areas:

  1. Mindset
  2. Detoxification
  3. Nutrition
  4. Lifestyle

Most chronic diseases—diabetes, autoimmune conditions, heart disease, thyroid issues, digestive struggles, fatigue, and more—don’t happen by accident. They’re often driven by food choices, toxin exposure, stress, lack of movement, and nutritional deficiencies.

When we rebalance these pillars, amazing things happen.

  • So many of my patients have reversed diabetes and have come off multiple medications, including insulin.
  • Other patients have reversed hypothyroidism, even one patient with severe hypothyroidism (TSH of 21) restored thyroid function, released chronic pain, and found her ideal weight—all without simply masking symptoms.

It’s not always the easy road, but it’s worth it. Healing happens when we give the body the conditions it needs.

As Thomas Edison once said:

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”

That’s exactly the vision I hold for my practice.

Becoming a New Patient

Before starting care, I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation. This allows us to connect, briefly discuss your health challenges, and see if a holistic approach is the right fit for you.

If we move forward, your new patient experience includes two in-depth visits:

  1. Comprehensive Health History – I take the time to understand your full health story.
  2. Individualized Care Plan – Together, we create a roadmap for healing based on your unique needs.

This process ensures we’re on the same page, working toward lasting change—not just temporary relief.

Final Thoughts

I love what I do, and I love this community. Whether you’re in Iron River or across the country, my mission is the same: to help you uncover the root causes of illness and guide you toward vibrant health.
